June 20, 2015 Great Time To Be In The Keys
fishing_report_250

The Tarpon bite is not slowing down. I am seeing more small fish. Great fun they jump more and then it is over they don't drag you around for an hour or more. The juvenile fiah  10 to 12 lbs have shown up in the back country in significant numbers. Great fun on light tackle.

The trout have disappeared out back. I did catch some out to the west. It was a good pick not fantastic. I read a recent article where biologists are thinking it is due to the salt water intrusion into the Everglades. Time will tell.  The snook bite is still steady. Between the snook and the little Tarpon you can put together a great morning. Caught some great Reds day before yesterday on a falling tide we would have had a slam but my angler lost two snook.Still catching Black Drum and they r getting bigger 7 to 8lbs.

The wrecks in the Gulf have been producing Permit, Pompano, Trout , Mangroves , Goliath Grouper and huge Jacks. Of course the sharks r everywhere .

The patch reefs continue to produce Hogfish, big Pogies and lots of Mutton Snapper. Non stop action.

Offshore: Captain Don on the KKIV has been bringing Wahoo, Mahi and tripple tail to the dock regularly. I have also seen lots of Yellowtail Snapper and Grouper.

Captain Freddie

Captain Freddie was born and raised on Martha’s Vineyard Island, located off the coast of Massachusetts.

Being born on a small island in the Atlantic Ocean, Fred began Shell fishing and Hook and Line fishing as soon as he could walk.  Fred had a passion for fishing and catching Stripers, Blue Fish, Fluke, Bonito and Albacore Tuna along the shores and beaches of the Vineyard.

As he came into his teen years he began to fancy Offshore Fishing and catching White Marlin, Yellow fin Tuna, Swordfish, Maco and Thresher Sharks.

Fred commercially and recreationaly fished throughout his teen years.  At the encouragement of his Dad to get a “Reel Job”, Fred pursued a career working with handicapped youth.  This also enabled him to continue fishing.   Read more...
